A person who performs surgery on you for your good is called a surgeon.
A person who spurs you on towards better results is called a "spurgeon".
There have been many spurgeons raised by God Almighty down through the ages. I believe it is one of God's varied ways of fulfilling His divine purpose of leading us towards knowing God through Jesus by the power of the Holy Spirit.
By the grace of God, I have been led by the Holy Spirit to the writings of many of these spurgeons, the list of which is by no means exhaustive.
I must add at this point that such writings are not meant to replace the study of the Word. It is my fervent belief that the same would enable me to understand the Word better . It is my fervent hope that one day I would be able to read the Bible with the full illumination given by the person of the Holy Spirit.
Again, I must stress that this is my personal experience and not representative of what some may call the "model Christian".
It is the purpose of this blog to share with you what I have understood. I hope you would also share with me what you have learned. In this way, we can edify and encourage each other as we await the return of our Lord Jesus.
I was thinking about the person of the Holy Spirit when the word surgeon came to my mind. From that thought, the connection with "spurgeon" surfaced. Well, that was how it happened: short, sweet and simple.
